New Photography

After making some mock ups of front covers, double page spreads and contents pages, I realised that my first set of pictures I took did not really represent my magazine the way that I wanted them too and although I used a proper camera for the first set of pictures, I didn't fully understand what I wanted my magazine to look and feel like, but since doing my mock ups I have realised what I want to represent within my magazine and what I want it to look like so I decided to take new photos that represent my magazine more and also that look more professional as I have learnt how to use more features on my camera than I did taking my pictures the first time around.

I focused on a few elements with these photos, the first was getting close up images to show full exposure to the audience that there is nothing to hide within my main image artist, the second was shooting pictures outside with mid shots/long shots to again show there is nothing to hide and that there is a sense of reality within my magazine with the outside world, the third element was to get pictures of him looking away from the camera to show mystery and finally shots with him crossing his arms to show he is in charge and has power over people. My idea is to not make my magazine too serious and have an element of reality and mystery.

Extra Research

Music influence on my style/theme

Justin Bieber - Sorry
As I am making a music magazine, I obviously take and have to take inspiration from the music world. Music videos help with my creative process as I get to see the what the artists own style is which means it can reflect in my magazines, for example Justin Biebers 'sorry' video is very colourful and full of high energy which represents what I want my magazine to feel and look like.

Chance the rapper is another huge inspiration for my music magazine, especially with this music video with Chance and Lil Wayne as it brings pop and hip-hop/rap together in one song so a lot more people that are into different genres are listening to this song which is why I have chosen my magazine to represent pop as you can fit it into hip hop, rap and other genres. Also this music video 'no problem' has widely inspired the fashion industry due to their being a sense of smart-casual in this video which is again what I am going for in my magazine.

House Style

I decided to change my house style as when making my mock ups of my front cover, double page spread and contents I realised that they did not go with the theme of my magazine which is chilled and exposed so I decided to change it to better, brighter colours. My main colour of my magazine is light blue and black as the blue an black go with each other and are very popular colours right now and they represent both women and men without having the stereotypical colours dark blue and a pink which represents my magazine as it is relatable to anyone, I also picked yellow to be a main colour as again it's a very in colour right now and its bright and catches the audiences attention.

                                                      New House Style^^
The house style of my Music magazine will be consistent all the way through, I will do this by using the same fonts, colours and layouts; I will make sure that these 3 subjects fit in with my brand identity of my music magazine "KRISSKROSS" as i want it to look professional and also stand out to the reader. The fonts I will be using for my magazine are bold and classic fonts for example Georgia and Arno Pro caption, I chose fonts like these as it will appeal to my target audience as its quite mature but also still fun and bold so it catches the readers eye and makes my magazine look interesting. The colours of my magazine will appeal to everyone as its black, white, light pink, light blue and red.  I have chosen these as my colours as it shows my magazine is for boys and girls and they all work well together and look effective. As my colours are quit out there I am going to be keeping the text on my magazine minimalist to make it look professional and unique.
